Shandur Pass provides a route between Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. Shandur is particularly famous for the annual polo festival that has been held in the area since 1936. The polo stadium is the highest polo ground in the world at the height of 3700m. The weather is harsh and cold in winters so the best time to go there is the mid-summer. The whole area is rich in culture and the tourists can buy handmade artefacts, jewellery and embroidered shawls from the nearby towns.
