Shandur Lake Tourists Place In Pakistan

Pakistan may not be very large in size but it holds a significant position in South Asia. It is also a popular tourist spot. The recent threats of terrorism have visibly affected the tourism industry but despite this Pakistan attract tourists from all over the world. It is a land rich with scenic beauty, cultural heritage and adventure. There is much to see and do in Pakistan. If you are interested in visiting the beautiful mountains of Karakoram and Hindukush then Pakistan has abundance of hill points and mountain resorts in the north that can be visited. Both the local and foreign tourists love spending their summers in the striking mountains of north. One of the most stunning places to see in Pakistan is the Shandur Lake.
Located in the Khyber Pakhtun Khwa province of Pakistan, Shandur Lake is situated at an impressive height of 12,200ft above the sea level. Shandur Top is the plateau where this lake can be found. This plateau is blessed with great natural beauty and is located in the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan. Due to its great height it is known as the “Roof of the World”. Shandur Pass provides a route between Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. Shandur is particularly famous for the annual polo festival that has been held in the area since 1936. The polo stadium is the highest polo ground in the world at the height of 3700m. The weather is harsh and cold in winters so the best time to go there is the mid-summer. The whole area is rich in culture and the tourists can buy handmade artefacts, jewellery and embroidered shawls from the nearby towns.

 The first view of Shandur Lake can steal everyone’s breath. The crystal clear waters of the lake reflect the snowy peaked mountains and the blue sky. The mountains standing tall and proud around the lake complete the image. Pakistan has much to offer. You can visit the beautiful mountains in north, historical places in big cities like Lahore and enjoy the delicious spicy foods that are the specialty of Pakistan. If you go to Pakistan don’t forget to visit the serene lake amidst the mountain top of Shandur.
