The Louvre is one of the largest museums and also a historic monument. It is also the central landmark of France and Paris and is found at the right bank of Seine. It covers an area of 60,600 meter square. More than eight million people come to visit per annum and hence the place has become the top most visited museum of all the time.

There are over 35000 objects that are being displayed. Louvre Palace consists of the museum inside it and it was originally built by Philip II during 12 century as a fortress. In 1973 there was a grand opening with exhibition of 537 paintings. Many states came and went and by 2008, the whole collection was being divided between eight curatorial departments i.e. Near Eastern Antiques, Etruscan Antiques, Islamic Art, Decorative Arts, prints, Painting, Sculptures, Roman Antiques, Greek, Egyptian Antiques and Drawings.

It is slightly displaced from historic axis otherwise it would have been an architectural line which bisects the city. The palace can be reached through two ways i.e. Louvre-Rivoli stations and Palais Royal.

In total there are 3 ways to enter the Louvre Palaces. The main central entrance of pyramid, entrance through Porte des Lions and then there is an entrance through the mall which is underground and called Carrousel du Louvre mall. Unibail-Rodamco are the admisitrator of the shopping mall under which the lies the entrance to the Louvre also called as the Carrousel de Louvre. Le Marais An Ancient District In Paris, France

Le Marais is an ancient district located in Paris, France. It consists of many great archaeological and architectural works in buildings.

Outside Paris’s walls, church was built in 1240 at the north of Marais. The Order of the Temple renovated the area by constructing de Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie, church of Sainte Catherine du Val des, des Blancs Manteaux and des Carmer Billettes convent.Since the time of 17 century, Marais had always been the favorite place of the royal families of France after King Henri IV constructed the Royal Square. French nobles made many extravagant houses, restaurants, mansions there. These included the popular Hotel Carnavalet, Hotel de Beauvais, Hotel de Sens, Hotel de Sully and Hotel de Soubise.
After the war, district was protected and conserved by General de Gaulle’s Culture Minister by making it first safeguarded sector. And hence Marais holds a very special place culturally. A rehabilitation Policy was being carried out which meant that the Hotels were being converted to museums. For example Hotel Donon is now Cognac-Jay Museum, Hotel Carnvalet became Paris Historical Museum and last but not the least is the western site of Marais, Beauboirg, which became Centre Georges Pompidou. Centre Georges Pompidou is among the world’s most important cultural institutions and is France’s National Museum of Modern Art.

Jardin des Tuileries Wonderful Garden Located In Paris, France

The Tuileries Garden is a garden open to public which is situated in between Place de la Concorde and Louvre Museum in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. In 1564, Catherine de Madicis created the garden and it became a permanent public park after the French Revolution.

She also built a Palace at the toiletries known as the Palais de Tuiletries. She built it in a way so that it could remind her of the native Tuscany.

It was later on redesigned by Andre Le Notre in a French way. He had been designing the gardens of Versailles Palace. He built a terrace along the river bank and through an axis, he created the Champs-Elysees.

The Jardin des Tuileries was one of those parks which as soon as were made, they were made public. There were desk chairs, kiosks, cafes and restaurants and public toilets available.

The gardens are keep on renovating and the latest renovation took place in 1990, Le Notre’s design of the Tuileries garden has been kept complete and undamaged. Car traffic was being separated from the park to avoid noise pollution in the calm environment. Many new sculptures were also added. Passerelle de Solferino was opened in 1999 which is a footbridge across the Seine River. It linked the Tuileries with Musee d’ Orsay.

Centre Pompidou High Tech Architecture Complex

Centre Georges Pompidou is a high-tech architecture complex in Beaubourg area near Les Halles, of the fourth arrondissement of Paris. It contains precious Bibliotheque publique information, Musee National d’Art Moderne, IRCAM and a huge library. Musee National d’Art Modern is the largest museum in Europe displaying modern art. IRCAM is the center for acoustic n music research. It was named after the President of France, Georges Pompidou. If we count, there were over 150 million tourists from all over the world and locals who visited the Center Pompidou since 1977.

Alexander Calder’s statue, Horizontal, is placed in front of the Pompidou permanently which is like 25 feet high.Andre Malraux gave the idea of a multicultural complex. Today Centre Pompidou acts as a nerve center of art and culture of French people. Musee d’Art Moderne was also transferred to the more appropriate location which is in the complex. There was a need of a public library too. Plateau Beaubourg also decided that the complex will be the new and permanent place for the library.

It was designed by Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers and Gianfranco Franchini. Piano and Franchini were Italian while Richard Rogers was a British architect. The truth was that a competition was held and they awarded them the accolade of architecture design competition.

The Stravinsky Fountain which is nearby is featuring 16 fanciful and magical water spraying structures on the Stravinsky area. It was designed by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely. A video footage can also be observed in a video footage which kept on appearing in the ‘ French in Action’,

There are many street performers at the front of museum near the fountain. Street performances, dances, mimes, jugglers are all common practice there. Bois de Boulogne is a huge park which is situated at the west of Paris near the area of Boulogne Billancourt and Neuilly sur Seine. When the throne of Louis Napoleon was at the downfall, the park was made. It has an area of about 2090 acres and hence it became 2nd largest park in in Paris which is like as much as 2.5 times larger than the New York’s Central Park.

Surrounding the park are English gardens, cascading fountains and plenty of lakes, two botanical gardens, Pre-Catelan, amusement park, a zoo and Chateau de Bagatelle. There are also plenty of greenhouses which contains about thousands of plants, Hippodrome de Longchamp, tracks for horse racing, and a tennis stadium called Auteuil Hippodrome.

The Bois de Boulogne is actually the leftover and remainder of the oak forest of Rouvray which was royal and consisted of Saint Germaine en Laye, Meudon, Montmorency forests and Chaville. Hunting was the popular game played in forest by the royal family.

The park was more of a collection of stunning, thrilling landscapes and a destination for recreation, amusement, fun with cafes, bandstands, sports, shooting galleries. Gatehouses were designed by Gabriel Davioud, he also built Swiss chalet which later turned out in a restaurant. Grand Cascade was also opened as well as the grottoes made of cement and rocks were laid along with bridges.

An area in center of the park, Pre Catelan was rented to a concessionaire for the amusement park. Theatre des fleurs was also constructed by Davioud, a buffet, a pavilion for photography, a dairy and almost everything. The Pre Catelan was very famous for dances and concert shows.
