Visit to Gobi Desert in China

Gobi Desert Map
A ‘cold desert’ which is spread over 1000 miles from south-west to north-east and 500 miles from south
to north, occupying an area of 500,002 sq. miles in southern part of Mongolia is the Asia’s largest and

fifth largest desert in the world. It is identified as the ‘Gobi Desert’; where there are more exposed bare
rocks and gravel plains than sand dunes unlike Sahara.

It is also known as ‘sha-mo’ (sand desert) and ‘hal-hal’ (the dry sea) in Chinese language.

Desert Weather

Frequent rainfalls, snowfall and frost have earned it the name ‘The Cold desert’. It is about 4000
ft. above sea-level contributing to the low temperature which reaches as much low as -40°C. Extra
moisture is added to the crisp air as the snow is driven by the wind from Siberian Steppes. Unexpected,
extreme changes in temperature can go up to 35°C in one single day.

Expanding at the disturbing rate of 3600 km2 annually, Gobi desert is undergoing the process
of ‘desertification’. Hence dust storms are occurring more frequently in past twenty years in China,
causing damage to her agriculture economy.

The Great Gobi National Park is one of the biggest World Biospheres. It holds the last remaining species
of wild Bactrian camels, wild ass and the only desert-inhabiting Gobi bears.

The small oasis on the north of the desert attracts the herders and provides supply of drinks and food
for them and their livestock. Here the desert gives way to ‘grasses.

To the west of Mongolia lies the great Black desert, which is a continuation of the Gobi desert itself.

A small isolated oasis is also found in the south of Gobi known as Ekhiingol. It provides an important
agricultural land for many of the vegetables and fruits. But the transport is almost impossible, as there is
no availability of flights and the provincial capital is about 400 km far.

 Animal Info

The most popular livestock of desert is the Cashmere goat, known for their fine hairs. They can easily
strive in the harsh and challenging climate of the desert.

Life in Desert

The desert is important for the country both culturally and economically. As it provides the ecosystem
services to human population residing there, this includes livestock grazing pastures and firewood.

However the lives of the inhabitants are affected harshly because of desertification. Hence there is
a strong need of establishment of biodiversity and threat monitoring devices in the desert and the
initiation of the conservation projects to diminish the damages done by human beings and climate.

Tour to Great Blue Hole in Belize one of the best Wonder of the Wold

Blue HoleOn the coast of Belize lies a great submarine sinkhole known as the Great Blue Hole. It is near the center
of Lighthouse Reef Atoll which is about 70 km (43 miles) from the main Belize City. Circular in shape,
the hole is stretched over 300 m and the depth is about 124 m.

It was formed when sea levels were low by the mechanism of quaternary glaciation. When the
ocean is rising, the caves underneath are flooded. It is called Great Blue hole because of the deep
rich indigo color it has! The growth of Elkhorn coral glitters the hues, giving an enriching purple
tinge at the calm surface of the tides.

History of the Blue Hole

The great Blue Hole became a World Heritage Site of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1997 and is also a part of Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System. It
is under the protection of Belize Audubon Society. In 1972, Jacques Cousteau grabbed the Calypso and
dive the submarine into the great hole to observe the stalactites which was suspending from overhanging
walls. It was found that there is no oxygen at the bottom surface, and hydrogen sulfide gas prevents
bottom inhabitants from disturbing the alignment of sediments. Spores, mercury, fluctuating pollen and
arsenic levels

There is no oxygen near the bottom, and hydrogen sulfide prevents bottom dwellers from
burrowing and disturbing the sediment. Preliminary analysis of the short cores showed
fluctuating pollen, spores, mercury, and arsenic levels up to 221 parts per million were also
found after the analysis of the sample.

The Hole is situated far from the industrial area of contains aerosols, but is well affected by silica and
clay-bearing African soil dust within the area. The deposition normally occurs between June and October.

What people thinking

According to people of Belize, It should be categorized under the Seven Wonders of the World for being
one of the most astonishing dive sites around the globe. It is also a popular recreational spot- especially
for the scuba divers- and for those who are tempted by the great opportunity of diving in the blue water.
The main attractions include the rare and unseen fish species and the underwater networks of caves. The
fish species includes giant groupers, reef and nurse sharks, black tip sharks, bull sharks, angelfish and
butterfly fish.

On-shore caves are also found in Belize and in Yucatan Peninsula, as large as collapsed sinkholes.
Normally the trips for diving are full-day trips, and sometimes two dives are offered in the great blue
hole, one at the North, other at the south.

The deeper one dives into the Great Blue Hole, the purer the crystals of water are seen and the
more awe-inspiring the scenery is.

The Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe Cool Wallpaper

Victoria Falls are one of the most popular natural wonders which lie in the province of Matabeleland
North, Zimbabwe. It is on the southern bank of Zambezi River and interconnected by railway and road to
two cities: Hwange and Bulawayo.

Victoria Falls
When the idea of using the waterfall for hydro-electric power was introduced, the settlement began,
and it further expanded when railway station was made, and Victoria Falls Bridge was opened. With
time it was establishing as a major tourism spot, improving economic state between 1930s and 1960s.It
is 18 km south of the city and the airport now provides international services. Its width is 1 mile and
height of the falls is 355 feet. During rainfall season, about 19 million cubic feet of water dives on the
edge of Zambezi River.

Where is it

It is situated in south of Africa between Zambia and Zimbabwe and contains two national
parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya national Park in Zambia and Victoria Fall National Park in Zimbabwe. Spending
money for a trip to South Africa for witnessing the great falls with family, totally worth it!

The peak season for tourism is during rainy season. People can enjoy the splash of full force of water
being sprayed, the extraordinary hues of a rainbow and the noises. However during dry season, the
Victoria Falls can be seen clearly from Zambian side.

Obviously your main reason for visiting the area is to go and see the falls, and I would recommend going
the minute you've checked your bags into a hotel. If you're staying in Livingstone (Zambia) shared taxis
and minibuses regularly ply the route to the falls. If you're staying in Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) just walk
down to the park entrance from town. There are well-marked paths and many viewing points. You don't
need a guide or tour; just enjoy the spectacle at your own leisure and bring a raincoat for the spray.

Zambia or Zimbabwe?

Up until about 10 years ago Zimbabwe was by the far the most popular country to visit the Victoria Falls
from. There are plenty of luxury hotels and the infrastructure is good. You can walk to the falls from
town along well marked paths and the view is certainly the best from this side because you can stand
opposite the falls and see them head on. But, the political situation in Zimbabwe has meant that tourists
are opting to visit the falls from the Zambian side. In 2006, hotel occupancy on the Zimbabwean side.

Tropical Rainforests - Green Plants On The Earth

Tropical RainforestA tropical rainforest is a type of ecosystem that is bounded in between the roughly latitudes of 28 degrees south or north or you can say in between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer. This area receives huge amount of rainfall and relatively high temperatures. These tropical rainforests are mostly found in continents such as Australia, South America, Asia, Africa, Mexico, and Central America and also on islands such as Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Pacific Island. Tropical forest or also known as the lowland equatorial evergreen rainforest are a type of tropical moist broad leaf forest.

These forests are distinctive when we consider the levels of biodiversity they show. As much as 75% of species are native to the tropical rainforests. If we consider the population of all the living species which includes plants and animals, nearly half of them reside in forest. There are 2/3 of all flowers found in the forest only. The tropical forests are so large that many species, plants and microorganisms are still not discovered. The area is more popularly known as the world’s largest pharmacy or the Jewels of the Earth because of the remedies and meds found in them.

There are many types of rainforests i.e. flooded forest, Moist deciduous and semi green seasonal forest, Lowland equatorial evergreen forest and Mountain rainforest. Low land equatorial evergreen rainforest receives a huge amount of rainfall each year. The Moist deciduous and semi evergreen seasonal forests also receive high rainfall with warmer summers, cold and dry winters and of course the usual wet season. Mountain Rain forests (cloud forests) can be located in much cooler climate mountain areas. If we consider one hectare of rainforest, it will contain approximately 42000 species of insect and as much as 807 types of trees.

Tropical Rainforest
Rainforests are further subdivided into different strata. The forest floor is the bottom-most layer receiving as much as 2 % of sunlight daily. However the understory layer is lying in between the shelter or covering of the forest floor. It is a home for many mammals, predators, reptiles, insects and small birds. 5% of sunlight can reach this area.

As the tourism industry is flourishing, so does the ecotourism. It is a measure that was taken to conserve and introduce a factor of safety. There is now more economic back which means the habitat is even safer. Tourism also helps the world to be aware of the environmental problems that is a major issue nowadays.

The falls are over two miles in width and eighty meters high, hence making them higher than
Niagara Falls and wider than Victoria, and more beautiful than both of them.

No words and pictures can describe the feelings of a person standing there, being hypnotized
